Mad Hatter Barbershop Chorus |
Active Chapter Quartets:Loco FedoraJoseph Hudson (Tenor), Robert Golenbock (Lead), Jimmy Hopper (Baritone), Dick Zang (Bass) Loco Fedora started as a teaching quartet for the chapter made up of three of the section leaders and the director. They really enjoyed what they heard as they rehearsed the chorus songs, so entered a contest two years ago, and have since performed on the Big Apple Chorus Holiday Show, have been a staple at the New Milford Hotel holiday auction, and the first quartet in approximately 25 years from the chapter to qualify to compete at the District Level. Traveling MenWynn Wilcox (Tenor), Danny Anderson (Lead), Daryl Bornstein (Baritone), Andy Bayer (Bass) Traveling Men formed in the summer of 2010 when former tenor Tim Kaiser was looking for a quartet to join, and found Andy and Danny, who had previously sang together in quartets and VLQs. They approached Wynn at his first rehearsal with the Mad Hatters, and shortly thereafter they were rehearsing at Tim’s house in Bethel. Unfortunately, they often had trouble scheduling meetings, due to frequent trips by Tim to Nicaragua, Wynn to Vietnam, Danny to Minnesota and Alabama, and Andy to many different places. Hence they became the Traveling Men. True to their name, in early 2011 Tim Kaiser traveled on to Lawton, Oklahoma. He was replaced by Alex Zobler, who himself moved late in 2011, necessitating a part change on behalf of Wynn to welcome in Daryl Bornstein. The Traveling Men are hoping to settle down into this arrangement, and we continue to perform Singing Valentines and at contests. Rare OccasionFred Baran (Tenor),Robert Golenbock (Lead), Jimmy Hopper (Baritone), Terry Dunkle (Bass) Rare Occasion was formed in 2000 with Bill Manion (Bass), Paul Just (Lead), Jim Hopper (Baritone) and Fred Baran (Tenor). In 2006, Robert Golenbock replaced Paul who retired and moved to Florida, and in 2010, Terry Dunkle replaced Bill for the same reason. ~ Terry Dunkle (Bass) – Terry is a native of Jersey Shore, PA, earned a degree in English at Penn State and studied physics and engineering at Cornell and Brown. Served in the U.S. Air Force and was an editorial director at Reader's Digest and currently is CEO of Diet Power, a software company he founded. Terry joined the BHS in 2006. He lives in Danbury with his wife Mary. Rare Occasion's name is, in part, a humorous reference to it's busy members' inability to rehearse on a regular schedule. Real ChemistryAuggie D'Aureli (Tenor), Robert Bradley (Lead), John Bradley (Baritone), Dick Walter (Bass) Real Chemistry started out over 15 years ago, and the original name of the quartet was Whatever IV. The name came about when our first coach heard we were starting a quartet and asked, "whatever for". The name was changed to Real Chemistry within a year with the addition of 2 chemists joining 2 realtors. The quartet has undergone a few personnel changes over the years having gone through 4 tenors and 2 baritones. Lead Robert Bradley from New York and Bass Dick Walter from Ct. are the originals now being joined by Robert's brother John on Baritone and August D'Aureli singing Tenor. As August is a doo wop singer, we have added a few songs in that form to our reportoire. Over the years we have been singing at Charity events, fundraisers, weddings , and churches throughout the area, Real Chemistry was the 2001 Novice quartet Champs and have twice been named the most improved quartet at competions.
